GHC CLUSTER ➯ SACRAMENTO, CA
August 3 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pmFree
I am excited and a little nervous to encourage our clusters to chew on Tim Suttle’s book, Shrink, over the next ministry year (beginning this August). Tim Suttle started a church in the Kansas City area, birthed with the help of a local mega church. His experience from both contexts pushed him to grapple with the answer to the question, what does success really look like for churches and pastors?
Parts of his book I loved, other parts made me cringe, and most importantly, the whole thing made me process the question for myself and the church I pastor. I am confident that you will have a similar experience as I did, but perhaps you’ll be tweaked by different aspects of what Suttle has to say. That’s why I thought it would be worthwhile for us to discuss as pastors in community at GHC Clusters.
Here’s the plan: GHC will buy the book for GHC pastors, and each cluster will use a section of the book to shape discussion over the next year. This isn’t a book that can be adequately ingested in a quick overview – the concepts tap deeper issues that require time to unpack. So, go to your next scheduled cluster – I will be at a few of them – and get your book. Then get to reading!
We’ll cover the first section when we reconvene in clusters in August. I am hoping for added benefit for GHC as a whole having all of our clusters focusing on the same stuff each month.
